First tutorial 15/01/2018 - First Concept Sketch

For our first assigment, we are to read the story of Sybil Kathigasu and her struggle during the Japanese war in Malaya. Based on that story, we are to extract the emotion and feelings of the story and interpret it into an installation. There were several points in which I wished to highlight based on Sybil's story. The most interesting yet heartwrenching point in the story that really hit me was her time in prison. Through mental and physical torture while being interrogated by the Japanese, she still never gave in to reveal the secrets of the MPAJA. Her husband and herself needed to make sure that they kept their stories straight to prevent any secrets from spilling out to the Japanese. This part was what I wanted to highlight in my installation as referred to the sketch below :
